AASP MEMBERS BEGIN USING THE ONLINE MATCH-MAKING FUNCTON TO DEVELOP REFERRAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH NEUROSURGEONS

The American Academy of Spine Physicians (AASP) initiated the first phase of their new internet-driven match-making resource. This month AASP members began using the new match-making service, subsequently, the AASP has sent over 100 informational packets to neurosurgeons throughout the country during the last week. The match-making program is currently facilitating the development of regional interdisciplinary spinecare referral networks. This resource is invaluable as it is helping facilitate clinical interaction between chiropractic physicians and neurosurgeons. The AASP introduced the match-making resource during May of this year. Chiropractic members can access the resource to facilitate a referral relationship with one or more neurosurgeons in their area. To access this resource the member must log in to the AASP website with their unique PIN and user ID. The resource truly serves as an essentially automated “match-making function” thus requiring a minimal investment of time and effort on the part of the member. The member’s online request to the AASP initiates the sending of a packet of information to one or more neurosurgeons in the member’s area. The packet of information includes an introductory letter on AASP stationary, information about the benefits of cooperative spinecare and an overview of the benefits of becoming a member of the AASP.

The public is able to access the highly visible NATIONAL DIRECTORY OF SPINE PHYSICIANS at www.spinephysicians.net to search for chiropractic physicians and neurosurgeons who are members of the American Academy of Spine Physicians. The public is more apt to choose a spine physician who has developed working relationships in their area.
