Criteria for Levels of Credentialing
For Physicians
The American Academy of Spine Physicians offers two levels of credentialing for physicians. The level of credentialing awarded is based upon the level of academic criteria met. The criteria for the two levels of credentialing are listed below.
1. Diplomate status with the American Academy of Spine Physicians (DAASP) is awarded to the AASP member who acquires a minimum of 300 continuing education credits through the AASP
2. Fellow status with the American College of Spine Physicians (FACSP) is awarded to the member who has met the requirements of the Diplomate status and has acquired an additional 200 continuing education credits through the AASP.
For Non-Physicians
The American Academy of Spine Physicians offers two levels of credentialing for non-physicians (affiliate members). The level of credentialing awarded is based upon the level of academic criteria met. The criteria for the single level of credentialing are listed below.
1. Diplomate status with the American Academy of Spine Specialists (DAASS) is awarded to the AASP member who acquires a minimum of 150 continuing education credits through the AASP
2. Fellow status with the American College of Spine Specialists (FACSS) is awarded to the member who has met the requirements of the Diplomate status and has acquired an additional 100 continuing education credits through the AASP.
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SPINE PHYSICIANS
The American College of Spine Physicians is a division of the American Academy of Spine Physicians. The College represents a prestigious group of members who have achieved the highest-level of academic achievement available through the AASP. Physicians inducted into the College as Fellows have achieved a minimum of 500 continuing educational credits through the AASP. After being awarded Fellow status with the College, the physician may use FACSP after their name and they may acknowledge their Fellow status on professional correspondence.
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SPINE SPECIALISTS
The American College of Spine Specialists is a division of the American Academy of Spine Physicians. The College represents a prestigious group of members who have achieved the highest-level of academic available through the AASP. Non-physicians inducted into the College as Fellows have achieved a minimum of 300 continuing educational credits through the AASP. After being awarded Fellow status with the College, the spinecare professional may use FACSS after their name and they may acknowledge their Fellow status on professional correspondence.

The Academy represents an exception group of non-physician members who have achieved advanced credentialing through the AASP. Non-physicians inducted into the Academy as Diplomates have achieved a minimum of 150 continuing educational credits through the AASP. After being awarded Diplomate status with the Academy, the spinecare professional may use DAASS after their name and they may acknowledge their Diplomate status on professional correspondence.

This level of membership is for physicians (MD, DC, DO) whose practice/interest includes patients with spinal disorders. ($250)
Affiliate Member:
This level of membership is for allied healthcare professionals involved in spinecare and/or spine research. This includes physical therapists, massage therapists, exercise physiologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician's assistants, diagnostic technicians, surgical technicians, exercise instructors, personal trainers and individuals who hold a PhD and work in the field of spinecare. ($150)
Candidate Member:
This level of membership is for residents, fellows and students who have an interest in spinecare. ($35)
Membership will automatically renew each calendar year starting from the date of membership renewal or membership acceptance unless the AASP is specifically notified in writing by the member at least 30 days prior to their renewal date. Please address all correspondence to the AASP Office of Member Services.
