SPECIAL APPLICATIONS FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

Candidate Member Achievement Award:  Candidate members of the AASP are eligible to obtain Continuing Education credits through online programs. These credits cannot be applied toward receiving Diplomate or Fellow status with the Academy. Continuing education credits acquired through the Academy, as a candidate member, cannot be applied toward credentialing.  When the candidate member graduates and is granted a license then they receive the opportunity to work toward  Diplomate / Fellow Status.  Candidate members are given the opportunity to acquire special certificates of achievement for completed academic activities.  This program provides a unique opportunity for candidates to advance their knowledge and expand their resumes.

License Renewal: Many states require that practicing physicians and other licensed professionals obtain a specific number of continuing education credits each year. The American Academy of Spine Physicians (AASP) provides continuing education opportunities online.  Self-study courses are available with online testing. The continuing education requirements for healthcare professional license renewal differ from state to state; therefore, each member must confirm their own license renewal criteria and the eligibility of AASP credits for application relative to those requirements.

Credentialing: The AASP credentialing process provides recognition to spine physicians and other spinecare professionals for their academic achievement and for their commitment to excellence in spinecare. Becoming a credentialed spine physician or spine specialist requires that the member fulfill designated eligibility criteria, achieve the minimum level of continuing education credits required and receive a passing score on all relevant examinations. The AASP offers credentialing opportunities including Diplomate and Fellow status.

Inform a Colleague

Expand and Educate Your Spinecare Network

Welcome to the Inform a Colleague area of the Academy Website. The American Academy of Spine Physicians (AASP) strives to implement new and more efficient methods for members to communicate with other healthcare professionals. One of the most effective tools is the online "Inform a Colleague" function. This function can be used to expand and educate your spinecare referral network. It also represents a resource to conveniently inform others about trends in spinecare and about offers of organizations such as the American Academy of Spine Physicians (AASP), the International Spine Association (ISA). The link library also contains an application for membership with the AASP.

The online "Inform a Colleague" feature provides an invaluable time-saving service for keeping spinecare professionalsup-to-date, expanding the spinecare network, stimulating interdisciplinary referrals and for inviting colleagues to join the AASP. The library of links is always being updated with useful information and resources. The linked messages can be used to
