The AASP Deploys the First Phase of Online Continuing Education Courses
AASP members worldwide are off and running with continuing education offered online through the AASP website https://spinephysicians.org/ . Thirty-three textbook review courses totaling over 650 test questions were posted on the AASP website today representing the first phase of a groundbreaking and monumental continuing education project.
AASP neurosurgeons and chiropractic physicians in a unique cooperative effort developed the coursework. The educational topics include spinal anatomy, spinal biomechanics, clinical instability of the spine and an extensive treatise on the pathophysiology and evaluation of spinal cord injury and myelopathy.
The textbook review course tests can be taken online. When completed the participant can easily submit the test for grading with the push of a button. An immediate test score is provided along with a list of the correct and wrong answers. If a proficiency of 80% or better is achieved on the test the participant is prompted to apply for continuing education credits through the AASP. An email response is forwarded to the participant acknowledging the successful passing of the textbook review course. A recommended resume listing is also provided and is automatically posted on the AASP member’s online profile. If the participant has applied for credentialing status with the AASP these credits can be applied towards obtaining a Diplomate or Fellow status through the AASP.
If the participant does not wish to apply for CE credits there is no charge for the learning experience. If a passing score on the test is not achieved the participant may wish to take the test again. If the participant has applied for credentialing status with the AASP these credits can be applied towards obtaining a Diplomate or Fellow status through the AASP. The AASP does not keep a permanent record of unsuccessful test attempts.
