For Patients and the Public....

Welcome to the American Academy of Spine Physicians home page for the public. The AASP is dedicated to informing patients and the public about the spine and available spinecare. The AASP strives to ensure that the public of all nations have access to online resources about spine conditions, advances in spinecare, and to an online directory of physicians and other spine specialists committed to cooperative and conservative spinecare.

The AASP provides the public and other healthcare professionals with information about the training and role of physicians and the various members of the multidisciplinary spinecare team. The AASP provides a link to the International Spine Association (ISA) for additional information about the spine and spinecare.  The AASP is one of the greatest contributors of information to the ISA and its online Public Information Center (PIC). The ISA has one of the largest online searchable databases of information about the spine.

The International Spine Association (ISA) is a not-for-profit organization comprised of International Divisions representing countries on six continents. The primary mission of the International Spine Association is to improve the quality of spinecare throughout the world through education. The ISA is committed to disseminating need-to-know information through the World Wide Web in numerous languages covering many topics related to the spine including information about spine disorders, spine health, advances in technology and available spinecare. The ISA also provides information about other Spine Organizations and an International Directory of Back Care Products.

The AASP encourages individuals with chronic spine conditions to become a member of the ISA.  There are many member benefits including access to updated information about spine conditions and their treatment. Membership also provides access to a regular eNewsletter publication with spinecare tips as well as diagnostic and treatment breakthroughs.

This section has a variety of links which provides access to information and resources which the public can use to learn more about the spine, spinecare, and available treatment options.
